Walk and the City Center

As a member of the Geochoros Team I had to cooperate with a group of student-mates and researchers in order to create a Web platform presenting a set of GIS and tabular data, measuring various walkability indicators for European cities.

In this manner, this platform introduces density maps of high spatial resolution (50m X 50m) of 17 pre-processed and microscale walkability indicators, covering 59 central urban areas from 26 European countries. At the same time, we provide two extra tools for city comparisons and rankings, where users can pick up their preferences and compare city performance by walkability indicator and/or region.

In the sense of  WebGIS, users are able to view the data by clicking on the available cities. They can also customize the thematic map parameters like the indicator, the classification method, the number of classes or even share their customized map. Finally, they can download each city individually as a single geojson file or download the whole dataset in shapefile format as a single zip file.

Just to give you a quick snapshot.

The project is hosted on github. So everyone is free to share and contribute.

For the completion of the project the following libraries has been used:

1. openlayers 3 . For the WebGis capabilities.
2. Chart.js. For the creation of Graphs and Charts
3. Angular for the Application Development Framework (ADF)
3. Angular Material for the UI components
